News from The Seven Sisters
Friday, November 15, 2024
OK, it's 2024 now and nearly the end of that year. I can't believe I started this 20 years ago.
I'm getting ready to send out a Carrier Pigeon --probably today. This time I embedded a lot of little "easter eggs" in the photo. I wonder if anyone will notice. I sort of hid them---and then I made them a little transparent so they wouldn't show unless you were really searching.
Should I tell people they are there, or should I let them figure it out. (They probably won't even notice.) Now that people use their phones so much, they really can't see anything like they used to. And I think they give up on really looking at things.
Wonder what things will be like 20 years from now. I probably won't be around to see it.
I hope things have improved politically. It's not a good time right now, but we won't go into that.
Bye!
(Next year will be 44 years of the Carrier Pigeon.)

Sometimes when I go walking in the dark of the early morning, I see the Pleiades and think of this blog. It's really become more of a "journal" for me since no one reads it or comments. But I just like that it's here, reminding me of my sisters, and our connection. Today we are going back to Standard Time. I wish people would just leave it alone, one way or another. It means now that it will be lighter when I walk in the morning. I don't like that. I liked walking when I could look up and see the stars peeking out of the dark sky.

How lucky we are to have each other---and to still be alive.
Around here, it's getting to be the "buggy" time of year. I think I've sort of gotten the head start on the crickets. I've put sticky pads at every entrance, and kept them out so far.
My telephone alert is a cricket. I'm going to have to change it this time of year. EEeekkk!
I got little black bugs in the cereal cupboard and had to clean them out and throw some stuff away. Ug! I hate that. And just yesterday I saw a miller moth flying around. I smashed it before it could lay any eggs. (I HOPE!!!) I really hate those things.
We haven't had those little sugar ants very bad this year, but we have had some carpenter ants. I think that's very bad. But they have gone away for now, so I'm putting them out of my mind, which I probably shouldn't do!
The other day I brought in a green bean that had some holes in it. Out of one of the holes came wiggling a caterpiller. Ug! I got rid of that. And there was another one in a small pumpkin that had been sitting in the grass.
I put some beer out for the slugs, and none of them came to it. Before, I used the complimentary beer we got at the Thai restaurant, and it attracted many slugs. But, this beer was old. Someone was going to throw it out, and I said, "NO! Give it to me for the slugs!" But it didn't seem to work. Do you think slugs are discriminating beer drinkers?

There are still seven sisters alive and kicking. Wonder which of us will be the first to become a real star in the heavens. And, by that, I don't mean "famous."

I e-mail friends and acquaintences and family members, and nobody reads them. Why would I think someone would read a blog?
Maybe it's a way to "journal." That makes sense. As long as you are sure you site will stay up forever. I guess it's as reliable as a paper journal that may be subject to fire, hurricanes and earthquakes. Nothing is sure in this world I suppose.
Perhaps someone from a far distant land might come across your blog and think, "Hey, this person seems to be someone who might be deserving of my fortune. I'll give it to her." That would be a good reason to blog.
I think people out here where I live are more interested in Facebook and MySpace.com and even putting things on YouTube than they are in blogging.
I think the culture "out west" is more conducive to blogging. I'll talk more about those cultural differences if I ever come back here again.
This blog is for the seven Martin Sisters, (the pleiades) and anyone else who might happen upon it.
