News from The Seven Sisters
Thursday, August 30, 2018
Hey, they are threatening to take away my account, so I thought I'd better get writing something. After all, Pleiades is the perfect name for all seven of us sisters!
How lucky we are to have each other---and to still be alive.
Around here, it's getting to be the "buggy" time of year. I think I've sort of gotten the head start on the crickets. I've put sticky pads at every entrance, and kept them out so far.
My telephone alert is a cricket. I'm going to have to change it this time of year. EEeekkk!
I got little black bugs in the cereal cupboard and had to clean them out and throw some stuff away. Ug! I hate that. And just yesterday I saw a miller moth flying around. I smashed it before it could lay any eggs. (I HOPE!!!) I really hate those things.
We haven't had those little sugar ants very bad this year, but we have had some carpenter ants. I think that's very bad. But they have gone away for now, so I'm putting them out of my mind, which I probably shouldn't do!
The other day I brought in a green bean that had some holes in it. Out of one of the holes came wiggling a caterpiller. Ug! I got rid of that. And there was another one in a small pumpkin that had been sitting in the grass.
I put some beer out for the slugs, and none of them came to it. Before, I used the complimentary beer we got at the Thai restaurant, and it attracted many slugs. But, this beer was old. Someone was going to throw it out, and I said, "NO! Give it to me for the slugs!" But it didn't seem to work. Do you think slugs are discriminating beer drinkers?
